When is Antioxidant Support helpful? anytime powerful nutrients and antixodants are missing from the diet
Clinical Applications Research: Phyto Renew (chewable) is a long list of heavy hitting plant nutrients to charge up the body instantly in a pleasant-tasting chewable. It has never been easier to add the healthful benefits of fruits and nutrients to the diet; it’s powerful, portable and palate-pleasing! It is chock-full of antioxidants and ingredients that pack a punch, condensed into a tasty chewable. The health benefit of a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is attributed to the presence of a large diversity of bio-active phytochemicals, and Phyto-Renew has a wide variety of phytochemical-rich nutrients. Pomegranate, blueberry, cherry, acai, raspberry, blackberry and resveratrol are just some of the amazing powerhouse ingredients in Phyto-Renew. The unique formula utilizes a comprehensive collection of flavones, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, polyphenols etc. to deliver an amazing ”Phyto” combo.

Phyto Renew provides supportive function for: oxidative damage (free radicals), energy, detoxification, brain/memory support, nerves, bones, aging, inflammation, muscle damage, reflux, gallstones, normal regulation of the cell cycle and wherever powerful nutrients and antioxidants are missing from the diet.

Pomegranate (fruit) is an excellent antioxidant, and it is well-known for raising levels of glutathione, considered one of, if not the most powerful, antioxidant we have in the body. Recent research shows that the antioxidant power of pomegranate contributes to many things, including bone health and a normal inflammatory response (Spilmont et al. 2013), neuronal and aging support (Braidy et al. 2012); memory support (Ropacki et al. 2013), heart support (Aviram & Rosenblat 2013), healthy resistance to a bacterial environment (Bakkiyaraj et al.), and recovery from exerciseinduced muscle damage (Sousa et al. 2013).

Scientists have reviewed the nutritional and pharmaceutical benefits of pomegranate and concluded that pomegranate has “raised a growing scientific interest”; because of the effects that pomegranate is endowed with, “we hypothesized that it may have beneficial effects” (Spilmont et al. 2013). Because of the ability to reduce oxidative stress and toxic assault, pomegranate is a good choice for detoxification support. The health benefits attributed to pomegranate have been associated with its high content in various polyphenols, particularly polyphenols called “ellagitannins”, amongst others. It has been noted by Viladomiu M, et al. (2013) that “the synergistic action of the pomegranate constituents appears to be superior when compared to individual constituents”.

Blueberry (fruit), Raspberry (fruit) and Blackberry (fruit): Small berries have long been considered as one of the richest sources of natural antioxidants, the pharmaceutical value of which is reviewed in “Berry antioxidants: small fruits providing large benefits” by Manganaris GA, et al. 2013. Blueberries have been found to support a normal inflammatory response and recovery from exercise-induced muscle damage (Sousa M, et al. 2013).

Cherry (fruit) can increase antioxidant levels in the body, and has even been referred to by Garrido et al. (2013) as a “neuraceutical tool”. Cherry has a favorable effect on melatonin, and can help contribute to normal sleep patterns.

Lemon Bioflavonoids are best known for supporting capillaries and circulation; they consist of many varieties of phytochemicals, including rutin, hesperidin and hydroxycinnamic acids. Amongst many various health benefits, hesperidin increases carotenoid absorption in the gut (Claudie DM et al. 2013). Citrus flavonoids were found by Park, HY et al. (2013) to prevent excessive lipid formation, protect the antioxidant system and support the normal inflammatory response in the liver.

D-Limonene is a major constituent of several citrus oils. It has a gastric acid neutralizing effect, supports normal peristalsis and gallstones, and increases Co Q 10 absorption. D-limonene is especially known for its powerful support for cell cycle regulation. D-limonene is an adenosine agonist, meaning that it binds to some receptor of a cell and triggers a response by that cell; agonists often mimic the action of a naturally occurring substance. Adenosine is a purine nucleotide that plays an important role in biochemical processes such as energy transfer (adenosine triphosphate is ATP) and signal transduction.

Acai (fruit) is full of strong antioxidants. Acai has been described by researchers as exhibiting “quite potent biological activity” (Kinghorn et al. 2011). An evidence-based systematic review of acai was conducted by the Natural Standard Research Collaboration, and they found statistically significant evidence of benefit as an antioxidant from properly randomized trials (Ulbricht, C. 2012). Most research on acai fruit has centered on its potential antioxidant properties (Singh, & Barrett, 2011; Mertens-Talcott et al., 2008; Rodrigues et al., 2006; Schauss et al., 2006; Udani, Singh), however, there is a lot of research focused on other areas, which may or may not be related to the antioxidant potential (Pozo-Insfran, Percival, & Talcott, 2006; Stoner et al., 2010; Schauss et al., 2006). One of the biggest areas acai offers the most support for is the lungs. Acai can “modulate various biochemical aspects” of lung processes and can enhance lung antioxidant levels with beneficial effects (Biswas et al. 2013).

Glutathione (reduced): Glutathione (GSH) has been called the body’s most powerful protector by people like Dr. Jimmy Guttman, who realize that this super antioxidant, found mostly in the liver, plays a huge role is maintaining a positive antioxidant status for the best defense. Most glutathione is made directly in the cells from three amino acids, however some ingested glutathione is able to get to the liver by way of the enterohepatic circulation (intestines to liver). Glutathione is active in its reduced form.

Grape Seed Extract has a very high concentration of proanthocyanidins. A study focusing on lifestyle intervention factors determined that several downstream proteins are produced when the body is out of homeostasis, and that grape seed extract reduced the occurrence of those proteins (Derry, MM et al. 2013). Grape seed extract strongly supports delicate thin layers of actively metabolic cells such as capillaries in the lungs (that handle our oxygen/waste exchange) and the endothelium that lines the blood vessels and the heart. The endothelium of the blood vessels regulates vascular homeostasis through the release of numerous vasoactive factors that control vascular tone and vascular smooth cell proliferation. Grape seed extract has been shown to beneficially support the maintenance of homeostasis in the endothelium.

Quercetin is a potent flavonoid that is actually present in many herbs and foods, however it is isolated as a single supplement because of its vast properties. Quercetin is mostly known for supporting the heart, blood vessels, lungs, normal blood sugar levels, energy, athletic performance and the immune system (Web MD).

Elderberry (fruit) is an antioxidant that highly supports cell viability and a healthy bacterial environment. One study on elderberry revealed an extensive range of phenolic metabolites of anthocyanin, including 11 previously undiscovered novel metabolites, which were identified at much higher concentrations and bioavailability than even the parent compounds (de Ferrars RM, et al. 2013).

Resveratrol is a unique botanical antioxidant with diverse biologic effects; its ability for molecular signaling and its effect on cellular mechanisms has been documented in scientific research (Farris, P. et al. 2013). It is present in many substances, but is best known for being a constituent of red wine. Resveratrol provides some of the best support for mitochondrial and telomerase activity associated with healthy aging processes. Resveratrol also offers excellent support for nerves, the brain and other organ systems.
